In June of 2013, I moved to Switzerland as an expat. What was meant to be a two-year adventure actually became seven!
My husband had moved here two years prior and I decided to take a leap of faith to join him.
During this time, I learned French, traveled all over Europe and completely submerged myself by working and going to school here.
But one thing that was way outside of my imagination was to give birth and raise a child in Switzerland.
In fact, having a baby here was probably the most adventurous thing I did as an expat.
After exactly seven years later, I’m so glad to be able to share this experience on expat.com, the online magazine for expats. This was a great way to celebrate my 7-year anniversary!

I remember reading expat.com when I first moved to Switzerland.
I devoured every aspect of living here as an expat and was really glad to have found this community. This site now has 2.7 million members present in over 500 cities and 197 countries.
That’s why it feels so exuberating to be able to share my experience on this online magazine after exactly seven years later.
