My Favorite Books

Books that can transform your mind will transform your life!

Growing up, I loved reading books. I especially love the ones that inspire us to see things with a brand-new perspective, touch our heart and soul, or invite us into a whole new world of imagination, science, and magic.

Here are some of my favorites.

Transformational Books

Affluenza: The All-Consuming Epidemic

I read this book when I was 19 years old and since then it has completely transformed my mind about consumerism.

No longer do I yearn for more, I begin to look for inner acceptance and thus began my journey to save, invest, and curb my toxic spending habits.

The Intelligent Investor

This is a classic investment book that is known to have transformed Warren Buffet’s life and paved the way for his enormous wealth! It doesn’t disappoint.

Although it was originally published in 1949, investors today can still heed the advice of value investing and staying the course by developing long-term investment strategies.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

This is a powerful personal development book that teaches you how to transform your mindset to become more proactive, productive, and effective.

One lesson that has left a huge impact on me was the concept about the “Circle of Concern” and “Circle of Influence.” It gave me a fresh perspective about my own worries and taught me how to control them.

Heart, Mind & Soul

Flowers for Algernon

This is one of my favorite science fiction books that takes you through a journey of a guy who went from mentally-disabled to exceptionally intelligent.

But it’s more than just a science fiction. Flowers for Algernon is also about one’s inner struggle with achieving a lifelong dream while finding happiness. Perhaps sometimes, we already have everything that we wished for.

Sophie’s World

I read this book in high school and it remains as my favorite novel about philosophy. It really makes you think about the world beyond our tiny little corner and how a perspective can be viewed from so many different angles.

This book sparked my interest in philosophy and changed my viewpoint about our world, the universe, and beyond.

Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul

I read few of the Chicken Soup book series and this one is by far my favorite. It helped me get through the tough teenage years of emotional roller coaster and stay grounded.

This book is filled with soulful and inspirational stories in the form of short essays. I guess you can say that they are similar to modern day blog posts!

Imaginations, Poems & Magic

The Little Prince

This is a French children’s novel about imagination. Have you ever wondered why we lose those silly moments when we imagine the most outlandish things as an adult?

Well, it’s not so silly at all once you become a parent! This book will surely open up your imagination and bring you back to those days of being a child again.

Dr. Seuss

I really love reading and writing poems thanks to Dr. Seuss. Every one of his poems is ingenious and inspirational.

Needless to say, this will be my favorite book to read to Baby Bear!

Harry Potter

I’m a huge fan of the Harry Potter book series. To top it off, I’m so inspired by J.K. Rowling’s story – her struggles, her imagination, and her persistent to try, try, and try again.

We even visited Porto, Portugal where she once lived and saw some of the Harry Potter magic there!
