Recently, I wrote a guest post on Mom’s Choice Awards titled, “How to Survive the Fourth Trimester for New Moms.” Not surprisingly, this guest post helped boost my SEO game!
I wrote this guest post with the intention of giving other moms support during this challenging time. I also wanted to offer some advice on how I got through my first three months (i.e. fourth trimester) of being a new mom.
And when you put out good contents, great things come back to you!
Curious? Let me share a bit more…

Why Hello, SEO
Guest posting is an excellent way to boost SEO for a website.
And if you follow along my (newbie) blogging journey, you’ll notice that I’m a HUGE FAN of SEO. No really, I became a huge fan because I know how vital SEO is for new bloggers to drive traffic.
It’s working out great, and few of my articles are already ranked on the first page of Google for the keywords I targeted.
I originally aimed to have just ONE article ranked on the front page by the end of this year. (A year-end somewhat ambitious blogging goal so to speak.)
But lo and behold, I found out I was ranked after noticing more and more traffic coming from Google, Bing, and Yahoo just recently. (I.e. organic search results.)
And that’s when I knew guest posting really works!! (Sure, it doesn’t hurt to have contents with targeted keywords, but all of this is part of SEO!)
I can’t wait to share with you all the new things I learned in the upcoming blogging quarterly update.
(For those of you who are unaware, I post quarterly updates in an effort to document my blogging journey from the very beginning as I progress. The first one was published in January where I mentioned about my SEO strategies, and the next ones will be published in April, July, and October. Stay tuned!)
What Does Mom’s Choice Awards Have to Do with SEO?
Part of my SEO strategy is to write contents related to finance since this is my main niche.
But the problem is that this wasn’t my original intention when I started this blog.
While I love writing about financial subjects, I ALSO love writing about mom topics. In fact, being a mom was what drove me to start a blog in the first place!
But for SEO, you can easily confuse the “Google bots” if you write contents all over the place (I’m guilty of that).
Instead, you should focus on writing targeted contents related to your main niche.
Therefore, I’ve decided to focus this blog more on financial related topics, but I’ll still share my “mommy adventure” via guest posting.
And viola, enter Mom’s Choice Awards.
They actually have a guest post section where you can submit a blog post.
This is not only great for link building (a SEO concept), it’s also a great way to get my contents out to a wider audience.
Plus, Mom’s Choice Awards has a high domain authority which is very beneficial for boosting your own site’s ranking (another SEO concept).

Why Am I Telling You This?
Lately, I have been receiving a few guest post request emails from fellow mom bloggers. While I’m super flattered and excited to host guest posts, I had inadvertently become a victim of a viral email.
I should have known as the subject of the email was worded, shall I say, ‘funky monkey.’ But nevertheless my inexperienced blogger instinct dictated that I should open it anyway.
…And just like that, my site was shut down for a few hours as I scrambled to fix the error.
Because of this incident, I have decided to halt guest posting requests for the moment until I figure out a systematic way to filter out spammers.
So until then, I’d like to direct you to Mom’s Choice Awards if you’re a mom blogger who wish to participate in guest posting.
(One of the security measures I implemented was to have NordVPN which blocks my IP address and shields my internet activity from hackers and malware.)
But there’s more to just SEO…
Yes, SEO may be important, but it’s really just a means to an end.
For the most part, SEO can help drive traffic but why do we, bloggers and website owners, want more traffic in the first place?
For me, it’s to share my knowledge and experience with other parents and to-be-parents.
At the end of the day, what really warms my heart is to know that my contents have helped someone. Or provided them a fresh perspective. Or even just a simple chuckle.
Furthermore, what gave me immense motivation to continue creating new contents is reading comments like this…
You have a unique voice
I’m so thankful for a wide spectrum of mom blogs out there today.
Through reading other blogs, I’ve learned so much about parenthood and even seemingly menial task like, how to potty train your toddler.
This is why I’m sharing this resource so that other mom bloggers can get their voices heard to a wider audience.
And if you’re not yet a blogger but have the desire of becoming one, I hope that you find my resources here on this blog useful.
I’d love to hear about your journey!
A Final Word on SEO
SEO is actually simpler than it sounds. Sure, I can only say this now that I understand how to rank my articles. But I can totally understand that it’s NOT AT ALL straightforward in the beginning.
In essence, there are many ways to boost SEO such as by writing targeted contents.
This means that the contents you churn out should be highly related to your niche. Mine, for example, is personal finance with motherhood being the sub-niche.
But this in itself is not good enough of a niche. I should really focus on even more targeted topics within the sphere of personal finance such as investments, budgeting, or paying off debts.
In turn, this also means that anything else unrelated to finance (e.g. breastfeeding, cloth diapers, traveling with a baby) should have no place on this blog. Otherwise, I risk confusing the Google bots and thus not being able to ranked highly on the search engine.
Alas, I find it more fun to write about all aspects of personal finance. So, I will let go of the niching down option for the moment.
Which leads me to…
For any future non-financial related articles, I’ll outsource them to other blogs that have a better fit for those contents.
Such as this one I posted on Mom’s Choice Awards… here’s an excerpt:
Just when I thought the hardest part was over after 48 hours of labor, enter the fourth trimester. It was a beautiful moment when my baby was born. She came into this world with the most adorable eyes. When she suckled on my boobs for the first time, I was so proud at how quickly she found my nipples. I was overwhelmed with joy the first day watching her sleep and admiring her every subtle move. Then her crazy voice started shouting at the top of her lungs at night. I had no idea what was going on but it was the beginning of an end to a beautiful moment I envisioned when I first introduced her to this world...
